Winter Warm Ups

July 06, 2016

Winter is easily the season of curling up with blankets and downing cups of hot chocolate in the attempt to keep warm and beat those winter blues.

We don't mean to abandon our quest for healthy food and plenty of exercise but the colder it gets, the more movie marathons and comfort food win out over jogging and salads. That's why we at Jumpflex have compiled a list of 'winter warm ups' to keep you and your family moving and warm this chilly season.

Warm me up tea

Hot fruit tea can be just as comforting and satisfying in the winter months as hot chocolate but with the added benefits of antioxidants.

Apple cinnamon tea is a Jumpflex office favourite and very simple to make.

Slice or mince two medium sized apples and add them to a saucepan filled with two cups of water. Add 2 sticks of cinnamon and four cloves to the saucepan and bring to the boil. Once boiling, reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes.

Add honey to sweeten and strain into glasses. Easy!

Steam

If you find yourself a bit under the weather then say no to being blocked up and fight congestion with steam. An age-old natural remedy to pick you up.

Fill a large bowl with boiling water and add a drop or two of eucalyptus essence. Lean your head over the bowl and cover with a towel to trap in the steam.

Pro tip: adding eucalyptus drops in a hot steamy shower can work just as well.

Silent Dance Party

It seems that in today's day and age we spend more time on our screens than with each other.

Turn your Smartphones and MP3 players into your own personal discos and have everyone in your family listen to a song with their headphones in and dance around the living room.

Bonus points if anyone can guess what songs the others are listening to based on the rad dance moves used! It will look super silly but become a way for everybody to get involved and take life a little less seriously.

All the movement will surely warm everybody up and result in some serious cases of the giggles.

How do you keep your family happy and active throughout the winter months?
