She entered her very first surfing competition which was the last national one for the year and placed 3rd.

Brie showed her parents her dedication, discipline, and determination, going out in the middle of winter in a spring suit, bearing the cold water temperatures determined to get better with her surfing.  Every spare minute wasn’t wasted. She would be in the water sacrificing socializing with friends so she could get closer to the dream that she wanted to achieve, and that was to compete on the World Surfing League circuit against the best female surfers in the world.

Brie's competitive nature along with her surfing was soon to be noticed.  2015 saw Brie win the NZ Surfing Nationals under 14 girls title, and take out the majority of her competitions that year. She was being noticed by the surfing industry, and sponsorship soon followed. Rip Curl made Brie a part of their team, Brie’s dream was to be sponsored by them, so she was stoked. Brie became the number 1 under 14s female junior champion for that year, and it was only the beginning for her exciting journey which was to come.
